Both the vast size of an ocean and local changes in its bottom
topography call for efficient use of computing resources when
simulating tsunami wave propagation. The purpose is
to focus computer power into the most needed areas. Our approach
uses adaptivity on several levels. That is, not only can the
mesh resolution be chosen locally, but also the choice of
numerical strategy, mathematical model and even software code.
We show how this can be achieved in a parallel tsunami simulator based on
domain decomposition, together with several examples.
